Negative Option Billing, Urgent Email and the Initiating Follow Thru

By Mike Bossy
I just finished reading, “It Doesn’t Have To Be Crazy at Work”. It got me thinking about three disparate ideas and a possible linkage.
First, a good friend of mine, Peter Northgraves always said to me that there is no such thing as an urgent email. If it was urgent you would call. That is why I don’t look at my cell phone very often when I am at work. It just doesn’t seem urgent.
There are times when a supplier bills you automatically when they don’t hear from you. Maybe that text or email is urgent. What system could you put in place to catch these urgent items?
That’s where an Initiating Follow Thru (a concept developed by Kathy Kolbe) team member comes into play. Their striving instinct is to arrange and design.
Here is the link: task them with creating a system for you, to catch those items, so it’s not crazy at work. If you have them do this, make sure you define what success looks like for the project.
