Bossy Nagy Group (BNG) history

While Bossy Nagy Group as we know it today started in 2000, the roots of this Southwestern Ontario, community-based accounting group actually extends much further back. In fact, it all started with two kids who grew up on tobacco farms.

Growing up, founding partners Michael Bossy and Steve Nagy learned the value of hard work and ingenuity on their families’ tobacco farms. Surrounded by the agricultural community all their lives, they saw the contributions this community made to Ontario’s work force and even learned some ways to ease the burdens of farmers in the future.

When it came time for university, Mike and Steve both acquired degrees that would set them on a solid path: Bossy with an HBA from the IVEY School of Business and Nagy with a degree in economics from Wilfred Laurier University. Both would follow that up with a chartered accounting designation and in ’94 their paths would cross when they began working for Thomson, Fisher & Bossy - Mike’s first firm in Tillsonburg.

In 2000, Mike and Steve joined forces to create what is today known as Bossy Nagy Group (once known as The Michael Bossy Group) serving Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Delhi. Mike is president of the firm and brings 30 years of experience to the business, contributing to more than 200 successful family business transitions and estate plans with an emphasis on the dairy sector. A lifelong learner, Mike added the designation of Certified Agricultural Farm Advisor (CAFA) to his core CPA, CA designation and is a Kolbe™ Certified Consultant.

Steve has been working with Mike since 1994 and served as Managing Partner / Director of Operations for many years. His first-hand knowledge of agriculture and business provides valuable perspective and sound guidance for BNG’s clients. One example of this value is Steve’s development of a valuation model for ginseng and tobacco farmers. In addition to his core designation as CPA, CA, Steve is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Certified Executor Advisor (CEA).

In 2013, Nagy and Bossy brought Chad Lamoure, CPA, CA, into the partnership. Chad joined BNG in 2009 and has been providing accounting, tax and finance solutions to a wide range of clients ever since. His experience and deep knowledge of accounting and business advisory services helps clients maximize the value of their businesses. Chad also provides internal leadership to the BNG team in ensuring BNG remains fully current and compliant with the evolving standards of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and has also completed the CPA Ontario In-Depth Tax Course.

They didn’t stop there! In 2017, Marla Rice, CPA, CGA, jumped on board as a partner after working with Bossy and Nagy since 1997. Marla brings years of expertise in public accounting and business advisory services, and leads BNG’s team of accounting professionals across all three offices in Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Delhi. Marla provides a full range of accounting services and takes a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to clients facing complex accounting and business challenges.

BNG’s newest partner, Tracy VanPuymbroeck, CPA, CA, joined the partnership in 2018 after more than 10 years in progressively senior roles with BNG. In addition to providing a full range of accounting services, Tracy brings a special concentration on reliance engagements, including family business succession planning and reorganizations, and serves as a valued source of training, development and mentorship to team members who are pursuing a professional accounting designation.

With a deep knowledge base, committed team and decades-tested reputation as trusted accountants and business advisors in agriculture, manufacturing, small business enterprise and more, BNG seeks to take some of the uncertainty out of running your business; guiding you as you try new things and helping you ignite the passion behind your business!
