Sharma, Sullivan and Robbins

By Mike Bossy
I was doing some early morning reading. The article that piqued my interest today was written by Robin Sharma. It was titled, How I Read Books. His Step#2 is to “buy more books than you can ever read.” I am certainly living up to this step when I look around my home office.
This ties into Anthony Robbins’ CANEI: Constant and never-ending improvement. CANEI has always been one of my core values. It’s a mindset.
At any point in time, I have three to five books on the go. They will fall into three categories at any given time. Fiction (Clancy, Connelley, Baldacci, Childs or an author someone might recommend). Biographies (learn from those who went before me). Business (goal setting, mindsets, processes).
In all this reading, I am looking for what others may have done. It sparks ideas and thoughts related to my relationships, time, money and purpose. I don’t know who said this to me, but if we only look at the industry we are in and not others, we suffer by comparison.
I am always struggling with this new knowledge, trying to make sure I stay true to a quote from Dan Sullivan “It’s better to be interested than interesting.” I guess reading books is a form of being interested.
