Changes to AgriInvest Program in 2025

Farmer Field

Starting with the 2025 program year there are going to be some changes to the AgriInvest program.

  1. The new deadline for filing without penalty will be June 30, 2026, and the final deadline to submit (with penalty) will be September 30, 2026.
  2. AgriInvest is also putting an Environmental Risk Assessment Requirement in place for those producers with a three-year Average Allowable Net Sales (ANS) of $1,000,000 or more.

Producers who meet the requirements must submit an annual declaration stating that they have a valid eligible agri-environmental risk assessment in place and it must be in place before the producer's 2025 yearend.

The Agri-Environmental Risk Assessment must be valid at some point during the fiscal year.

This means that the certified plan must be in place before the 2025 year end and prior to submitting the declaration.

The risk assessment identifies agri-environmental risks on farming operations and are used to evaluate:

  • Practices in soil and nutrient management
  • Crop and pest management
  • Water, biodiversity and land use
  • Handling and storage of farm inputs
  • Waste, by-products and pollution
  • Energy efficiency
  • Livestock and feed management

The following risk assessments are eligible for AgriInvest:

  • 4R designation for farmers
  • Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef Production (CRSB)
  • Certified Organic
  • Environmental Farm Plan (free workshops offered through the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association)
  • Nutrient Management Plans

AgriInvest is sending out letters directly to producers who may be affected.

BNG will also be sending further details to those who have identified as having an average ANS over $1,000,000.
