New Canadian Agricultural Partnership

In place of the previous Growing Forward 2 program, the new Canadian Agricultural Partnership was officially launched in Ontario on April 1, 2018.

The Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) is a $3 billion, 5 year federal-provincial-territorial initiative that includes $2 billion cost-share funding programs for producers and associated agri-business operations.

The key focus of the CAP funding is to support ongoing research and innovation in the industry. As outlined by the program, cost share funding for producers, processors and other agri-businesses is available under the following project categories:

  • Economic Development in the agri-food and agri-products sectors
  • Environmental Stewardship to enhance water quality and soil health (including the Lake Erie Agriculture Demonstrating Sustainability (LEADS) sub-program)
  • Protection and Assurance to reinforce the foundation for public trust in the sector through improved assurance systems in food safety and animal health

The first intake for the submission of project applications is April 3, 2018 to May 8, 2018. All applications will be assessed, based on merit, following the May 8th closing date.

Subsequent intake dates are:

  • August 7, 2018 to August 28, 2018
  • January 9, 2019 to January 30, 2019

Further intake dates will be announced later.

A new step-by-step program guide and online application tool are available at www.ontarioprogramguides.net

Completion of one or more of the following workshops (depending on the project category) may be required in order to apply for funding and proof must be submitted with the application.

  • Growing Your Farm Profits Workshop & Action Plan
